Supplying customers from the wide format print sector as well as fabricators of outdoor products, we have a Keder product for every application. CARRFLEX® Keder and CARRFLEX® Keder Core allows fabric panels to connect to a frame, by sliding easily and effortlessly into an aluminum rail.
What is Keder?
Simply put, Keder is used to attach a fabric panel to a solid structure. The fabric panel (usually PVC) will be welded or stitched to the Keder flap, while the Keder core slides into an aluminum extrusion secured to the solid structure.
Keder consists of two parts: an inner core and an outer fabric. The core is commonly made from extruded PVC, which is then wrapped and welded in a coated fabric. Generally, this fabric is woven Polyester with PVC knife coating on one side, with the exposed fibers on the outside allowing the Keder to easily slide into the aluminum track.
Using this ingenious invention, fabric installations can happen faster, are more durable and it creates a continuous waterproof connection for roof membranes, curtains and sidewalls between the fabric and the frame.
The method for welding Keder to fabric depends on the style of Keder that is being used.
Double Flap Keder is generally welded using a high-frequency welder due the fact that three layers of fabric are being welded at the same time.
Single Flap Keder can be welded using wedge welders or hot air welders, requiring only a simple overlap weld.
Keder can also be sewn to fabric.
CARRFLEX® Keder and Keder Core Range
Our stocked Keder comes in a range from 0.16″ up to 0.51″ diameter, single or double flapped. Our standard fabric colors are black and white.
Our PVC Keder Core ranges from 0.12″ to 0.47″ in diameter. With the fabricator using their own fabric this gives them a similar range in size to using our ex-stock Keder range. It can also be used as Bolt Rope and sewn along the edges of sails to reinforce them or to allow the sail to be fixed into a groove on the boom or mast.
